I love breakfast. In fact I just love eggs. Therefore I like to find who serves my kind of breakfast. Locally I frequent Weck's a ton. They serve good hardy tasteful breakfast items. So that is my standard. Incidentally the founders father lived across the street from my wife and I.When he told us his son was opening a breakfast lunch restaurant I cringed. But it turned out to be the most successful multi-locations restaurants in town.
So the other day I was feeling like breakfast for lunch. Wecks again? No, something new I thought. Besides, a friend had met a server there that he wanted me to meet as she might have some cooking chops. So I went to meet her and kill two birds with one stone. Something new I thought. So I went to Sunnyside Up in the middle of town. Pleasant atmosphere. Quickly seated. Waited on very fast. Food came out hot. I ordered the New Mexican skillet with red chile. There is only one word to describe this...dish...SCRUMPTIOUS!!! However I needed to ask for new utensils as mine were improperly cleaned and food matter was on all three pieces. Service after food delivery was a bit inattentive. The frequency of the fill your glass and how is the food stops were rare.
Classic case of great food but mediocre service. It is not about the number of staff on shift but the quality of service and consistency of each server on the shift. So I will go back and i hope the GM reads this review. On my next two visits will tell the final tale of Sunnyside.
